To become an agro-citizen, you don't have to be a scientist or a permaculture baskets farmer to change the system.
Here are some things that really make the difference:
- Vote for a member of parliament who supports sustainable agriculture
- Join an AMAP
- Shop in a farmer's market
- Composting your waste
- Ask the principal of your children's school to make eating in the canteen a priority
- Create or participate in a community garden
- Post articles about sustainable agriculture and healthy eating on social media
- Give to organizations that support responsible farmers and change of paragdyme in agriculture
- Buy eggs from free range hens and locally produced meat
- Plant wildflowers to help pollinate
- Cook at home and adopt the rule of at least one day without meat
- Learn about GMOs
- Learn to understand the impact of agricultural practices on climate change
- Buy ugly fruits and vegetables and post photos on Instagram
- Visit farms with your family
- Go to Google to see what it says when you type "soil life"
- Make micro loans to farmers who need them
- Consume seasonal products
- Consume your own production or make a small garden on your window
- Try vegetables and fruits that you do not know
- Preserve fruit for the winter
- Dry herbs for tea or herbal tea
- Teach your children to cook
- Read books on the future of farming
